Fuel is one of your biggest operating expenses - especially now with surging diesel prices at alarming $6.52/gallon on average (according to AAA). How do you operate efficiently when fuel costs are out of control?
For commercial fleets, data center operators, hospital and medical facilities, telecom providers and businesses that depend on diesel-powered machinery, fuel efficiency is more than a mileage figure. It affects operating costs, productivity, and the economics of staying in business.
Our focus has always been on developing technologies that solve a problem or improve on existing situations. GasMaxx and DieselMaxx were designed to improve engine efficiency, reduce emissions, and lower costs.
The State of California CALTRANS Engineering Services Department, an EPA registered and California Air Resource Board (CARB) certified testing center, conducted a controlled test on a 6.7L Cummins Diesel engine. The test was in part conducted in order to receive a CARB E.O. number for the DieselMaxx fuel enhancement device.
In the State of California, any aftermarket part added to an engine requires CARB certification to prove that the additional part will not interfere with the manufacturer's emissions control system. The test was run using a dynamometer, which allows the drive tires to spin when the engine is in ‘drive’. The meter allows testers to accelerate the engine to perform various tests at various speeds.
California’s test showed some pretty incredible results:
🔹16% reduction in fuel consumption
🔹93.3% reduction in total Hydrocarbon emissions
🔹73.9% reduction in Nitrous Oxide emissions
🔹64.7% reduction in Carbon Monoxide emissions
🔹92.2% reduction in Methane emissions
These results illustrate why measuring fuel consumption alongside equipment output and exhaust-related indicators can be valuable when evaluating fuel-efficiency technologies.
For any organization operating diesel-powered equipment regularly, the cost of fuel accumulates hour after hour.
Improvements in fuel efficiency consistently demonstrated under comparable operating conditions can have a meaningful financial impact in a fairly short period of time. The potential benefit depends on factors such as equipment utilization, fuel consumption, operating load, and local fuel prices.
Fuel efficiency can also be considered alongside other performance measures. In the test, the report recorded changes in heat output and exhaust measurements as well as fuel consumption. For an operator, understanding how equipment performs under its intended workload is an important part of evaluating the overall value of a technology.
Install it once.
Let it work continuously across every mile.
Fuel-saving products should be evaluated against clear, measurable criteria. A useful test needs to establish a baseline, document the operating conditions, and compare results under sufficiently consistent conditions.
For operators considering a fuel-saving technology, the most relevant question is not simply whether a result was achieved somewhere else. It is whether the technology can deliver a repeatable, economically meaningful improvement in their own operating environment.
For businesses evaluating these technologies, a structured pilot can help answer the questions that matter most:
What is the current fuel consumption under normal operating conditions?
Does performance change after installation?
Are the operating conditions comparable before and after?
What is the financial value of any measured improvement?
Does the result justify broader deployment?
A well-designed pilot turns a general claim about fuel efficiency into a business decision supported by data.
The report from the State of California Engineering Services Department documented reductions in fuel consumption of 16% - a significant reduction that translates into saving money on expensive fuel.
At Autoventions, the objective is straightforward: develop technologies that can help operators get more from the fuel they buy, and evaluate performance through measurement.
