On a bright, pleasant Spring morning, Autoventions' Think Tank of Big Brains traveled to Sacramento, California to launch a pilot program for the West Coast-based carrier.
The approach was to install DieselMaxx onto one of Tony’s Fine Foods' busiest delivery vehicles - a massive 18-wheeler that followed the same route every day with the same driver and almost identical payloads.
As a pilot project, the team plans to compare the "Demo Truck" with other vehicles of similar size, routes, and needs to determine if the test truck will save them money on fuel costs.
For a 30-day period, the truck will be driven normally and then use fuel consumption data to compare it to the other 1,100 trucks in Tony’s Fine Foods' fleet.
The truck will transport refrigerated deli, bakery, food service, and specialty items.
Then, the company reviewed fuel consumption for the 30-day period.

Data from the demo showed a 6% increase in fuel savings.
